Human Forever Film Premiere for World Alzheimers Month

Your ticket to local premiere of Human Forever for World Alzheimers Month

Twenty-four-year-old Teun Toebes who has a mission: to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia mate wareware.

Teun has been living in the closed ward of a nursing home for years when he decides to take this mission to the next level in the new film Human Forever.

Human Forever will premier in Aotearoa New Zealand this September to mark World Alzheimers Month. The premier is being held with the joint support of Dementia New Zealand, Alzheimers New Zealand, Home4All, and Doc Edge.

In an adventurous three-year journey across four continents and through 11 countries, Teun takes you on a disarming and impressive quest around the world in which he looks for answers for the future.

Together with his good friend and film maker, Jonathan de Jong, he explores how dementia mate wareware is supported in other countries and what we can learn from each other to make the future more Dementia Friendly and inclusive.

As the number of people with dementia mate wareware increases to more than double by 2050, this quest is not just a personal story, it is a realistic and sometimes painful account into a global crisis.

Dementia NZ Chief Executive Cathy Cooney and Alzheimers NZ Chief Executive Catherine Hall say this film supports the World Alzheimers Month call to reduce the stigma around a diagnosis.

“We recognise dementia mate wareware is a normal part of life for many people both here and overseas. Seeing this celebrated in films, stage and other media helps break down the stigma surrounding a diagnosis and encourages people to reach out for the help and support they need.”

“It’s an honest insight into life with dementia mate wareware and highlights why the sector’s call for the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan to be implemented is so important. We hope you can join us for this exciting premier!”
