Understanding Anxiety and Depression
When someone is diagnosed with dementia | mate wareware there are huge adjustments to be made by everyone involved. Many care partners struggle with feelings of sorrow, guilt, grief, loss, ambivalence or anger.
Up to 80% of care partners will experience depression and/or anxiety at some stage while supporting someone with dementia. Dementia is equally distressing for the person with the diagnosis of dementia and up to 40% of people living with dementia experience depression and/or anxiety, either just prior to the diagnosis or somewhere during the trajectory of the condition.
This online Dementia Talk will provide more understanding of depression and anxiety, the causes, the symptoms, the treatments and strategies to prevent and recover from these challenging conditions.
Presented by Winifred Henderson, Senior Educator for Dementia New Zealand. She is passionate about helping people to live their best lives despite a diagnosis of dementia.
