Good in the Hood: Your Vote Can Support Local Dementia Services
Dementia Auckland, Dementia Waikato, and Dementia Hawkes Bay have all been selected to take part in Z Energy’s 2025 Good in the Hood programme – an initiative that shares $1 million with community groups making a difference in their local areas.
From Tuesday, 26th August to Sunday, 21st September, every purchase at a participating Z service station earns customers a token to vote for one of four local charities. The more tokens a charity receives, the greater their share of the funding.
Dementia Auckland is represented at Z Greenlane, with funds raised going directly towards local services that provide education, advice, and social connection for people living with dementia | mate wareware, their care partners, and whānau.
Dementia Waikato is featured at three stations – Z Dinsdale/Tuhikaramea, Z Stadium, and Z Te Kuiti – with funds supporting local programmes and services.
In Hawke’s Bay, Z Heretaunga Hastings is backing Dementia Hawke’s Bays Active Brain Programme, which offers cognitive stimulation activities, social connection, and practical strategies to help people maintain independence.
“Being part of Good in the Hood is an opportunity for our community to show their support in a very tangible way,” says Tracey Lanigan, Chief Executive of Dementia Hawkes Bay. “Every token placed in our box will directly help people in Hawke’s Bay who are living with dementia.”
Marsha Marshall, Chief Executive of Dementia North (covering the Auckland, Waikato and Lakes areas), agrees: “These funds allow us to continue walking alongside people through what can be an overwhelming time. Local support matters – and this is a simple way for the community to contribute.”
If you’re visiting one of the participating Z stations, look for the Good in the Hood stand and place your token in the box for your local Dementia organisation.
Little token. Big impact.
